Write up a price list
Added by jamessteele
|
By writing up a price list of all your products you'll only have to archive them once when you upload your product information on line.
Remember, work into the price:
a cost price and a profit estimation...
So that you don't under or oversell your items!

Take photos of your products
Added by jamessteele
|
Take some great initial shots of each one of your products and fully optimize them on a photo editor so that they are linked back to your web site's home page (this will direct more traffic to your website).
Taking a great picture could ensure a sale of whatever you are trying to sell so do it right the first time so you don't have to upload better one's later.

Set up your website
Added by jamessteele
|
Set up a website that screams 'what I'm selling is great!' without actually screaming. You don't want to put people off with garish colors and horrendous sham shackle designs. Keep it clean, simple and slightly themed. For example, selling homemade jewelry would really suit a French boudoir theme: clean lines, white+paste+strained vintage colors (in moderation) and a really catchy font for your descriptions.

Setting an on line payment account can seem really intimidating at first but if you go about the steps in the right way the first time, chances are you won't have to adjust this part of your business plan again or have to worry about security around payments from customers.

Set up a 'returns' policy
Added by jamessteele
|
Set up a proper, all encompassing returns policy so that your customers will be assured knowing that if something is 'not quite for them' then they can return it. They may not return every time but it will gain your customer's trust and keep you in line with on line returns rules.

Set up social network accounts
Added by jamessteele
|
Set up social networks to engage with potential customer bases. Once you have set up a social account portfolio, engage by going to other social set-ups for example: if you are selling jewelery, go to popular women's Facebook pages or join a Google+ circle to refer people to your site!

Check your site regularly
Added by jamessteele
|
Check your site regularly for errors, you don't want to give people a bad first impression or increase chances of people bouncing off your site.
You can also check for new comments, social shares and requests for products so your customer always feels taken care of!
