Cloud Computing
Added by jamessteele
|
Cloud computing has the potential to offer almost unlimited data storage, content and processing power. However, some believe it presents a security alert. But with companies like Microsoft continuing to develop the technology, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before cloud computing is secure.

Apple
Added by jamessteele

2012 promises to be a big year with potentially three big releases - ipad 3, iphone 5 and the Apple TV. As always, Apple remains tight lipped about what's new. But we can expect to see slimmer and faster devices much like any year. The Apple TV is rumoured to have Siri capabilities.

Ultrabooks

Ultrabooks are set to be huge this year. Somewhere between a laptop and a tablet, these devices are small and thin enough to carry with you but hold more processing power should you wish to do more than surf the net.

Flexible screens
Added by jamessteele
|
Flexible screens will be a feature on most gadgets in the future it seems. Not just any old screen, but there are prototypes of AMOLED screens. Flexible enough to wrap around a pencil, this allows for even smaller gadgets.

Samsung Smart Window
Added by jamessteele
|
The Samsung Smart Window is like a huge tablet. The impressive part is it acts as a window too. That's right, you can actually see through the screen while being able to check Facebook or watch a movie just like a regular tablet. The window is also energy efficient, using 10% of normal power consumption using solar power.

Windows 8
Added by jamessteele
|
The world's most popular operating system is getting a makeover - a much needed one at that. Windows 8 is expected to get a public release anytime now. Based on a similar user experience as the Windows phone, the graphical user interface (GUI) is made from colourful tiles. This change isn't merely for aesthetics though. Using this tile system makes using it on tablet a joy.

Virtual Keyboard
Added by jamessteele
|
Rather than having a traditional physical keyboard to type on, an image of a keyboard layout sits in front of you. Press a key and it's registered on the computer. There is a possibility of this making it's way to tablets and phones.
