I didn't want to add them either. As big an Iowa fan as I am, they have caused me more frustration this year than last year and when I watch a game I can't go three minutes without losing it on the poor play. Still going to the game this saturday though.
Injuries have hurt them this year along with Tucker's academics. This has really been Lick's first recruiting class; this year's sophomores are Alford's recruits. That said, as Kelly has gotten healthier (had broken fingers) and stepped in for Peterson at PG, he's been unreal. Gatens will be a great player too. Just wish they could get a juco big man for next year. Maybe even a European recruit as that's what this offense is supposed to thrive on...having a big guy that step outside. For next year's crop of frosh, I don't think Brennan Cougill will be a good player, and Eric May will be OK (but he's just one more 6'4" - 6'5" swingman). The year after, they get yet another swingman in Chanse Creekmur (not expecting much from him) and Cody Larson could be a good player from South Dakota (6'9" forward).
The thing that sucks for Iowa about the Big Ten is that a few programs that were down in the dumps switched coaches when Iowa did but had more to work with in terms of talent (i.e. see Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims at Michigan). Indiana has a hell of a recruiting class coming in, MSU and Purdue will be solid again, and OSU looks to be very good next year.
I had this year's Hawks being a couple games ahead of where they are now, and maybe they would've been there if they wouldn't have had the rash of injuries, and if Tucker would've spent more time in the library instead of The Union.
Drake is bad..will never be good again..Keno is a good coach that had a great dad(Dr. Tom) who left when he had the best team he could get...One good year(in a bad MVC) and a bunch of banwagon fans does not make them a top team in Iowa....I could pick 5 guys that would put up a fight aginst the starting five at drake!!!!!!
