The Glasgow Comedy Festival is a must for all fans of comedy. With such a wide range of acts to choose from, finding your new favourite comedian is easy. The city is well connected to others and finding hotels in Glasgow won't be a problem.
Most known for hosting TV show Mock The Week, Dara steps out from the desk and onto the stage once again. The Irish giant has a personality to match and talks about anything in his sets. Be warned, if you're sitting in the front row, chances are you'll be part of the show. Interacting with the crowd may be an old fashioned method for a comedian, but the trick shows how quick he can think and find comedy in anything.
Stewart Francis is a great example that one-liners still have a place in comedy today and they still have us crying with laughter. Simple and short, he delivers with dead pan each time. Ranging from stupid to crude, Francis shows there's no area he won't go. Like a machine gun, the jokes flow and you might find it hard to find time to breath from laughing so much.
In a male dominated industry, The Geordie stand up is representing the ladies in our list. Although a majority of her material relates to woman, it still doesn't neglect the males who come to watch her too. Her delivery is chatty, Sarah is like an old friend you haven't seen in a while and she tries to cram her story of the last two years into an hour.
Jon Richardson is developing a persona of being negative, constantly moaning about something - a much younger Jack Dee. His pessimistic outlook on life means he can find a flaw on the happiest of topics. His stark evaluation on relationships and single life makes you almost feel sorry for him; even though you are giggling on the inside.
While Phil Nichol doesn't receive as much acclaim from the general public, the multi-award winning comedian is certainly appreciated by comedy establishments. Mixing a fast paced in your face approach with witty and original songs, it's an odd combination that surprisingly works; another comedian who will talk about anything and make it funny.
Russell Kane represents those comedians who seem to have had copious amounts of energy drink before flying onto the stage. A visual comedian, he acts his stories out as he tells them, letting you know exactly how the situation went. Moving on from material that surrounded his childhood, he now casts his eye on relationships and the modern male in today's world.
While he is most famous down under, he is slowly filtering into the subconscious of the British public with his comedic talent. His observations on life will have you nodding in agreement with a smile, pointing out something you've never noticed before. The rather dour delivery makes it even funnier.
The definition of a rising star, Daniel Sloss has already a number of TV appearances under his belt. Michael MacIntyre's Comedy Road Show, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, The Rob Brydon Show; he has had audiences in stitches with his tales of growing up. Starting at the tender age of 16, the now 21 year old takes an analytical look on his short life.
The name might not be familiar, but his character in the Police Academy movies will be as Sergeant "Motor Mouth" Jones (yes, the one who made sounds with his mouth). As he moves from story to story, you wonder is there any sound he can't replicate? The sound effects combined with the silly tales make his set stand out from the crowd.
Not only does he have the best last name ever, his sets are extremely funny. His demeanour is someone who thinks he’s the man; and he wants everyone to know it. Possibly most known for his part in a Pot Noodle ad and Elvis styled sideburns, his sets are full of energy – he leaves nothing on the stage.
