So lets's start with Dubai's most prominent attraction the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building at 828m high. The building took 6 years to complete and over 4,000 tonnes of steel was used in its construction. The building was officially opened on the 4th of January 2010 and it cost an estimated $1.5bn.

Next on the big and incredulous list is the Palm Jumeirah, an artificial man-made archipelago raised out of the sea. Construction of the 'islands' began in 2002 and was finished in 2006.
